It has been a great pleasure working with FFA on what became the single most successful appeal in the history of St Luke's Hospital for the Clergy. The centenary appeal was always going to be difficult considering the constituents the charity served, Anglican Clergy. However, FFA managed to achieve income of over £2million pounds, far exceeding our expectations (but not our needs). Fees for fundraising consultants vary enormously, anything from £150 to £2000 per day depending on the experience and track record of the consultant, and the complexity of the project. So it pays to be certain about what you want a consultant to do and define this clearly in a brief. And don’t be tempted into a commission-only payment arrangement. These can deter donors from supporting you and usually do not reflect the level of work undertaken by the consultant. What’s more it’s not always possible to attribute every donation or gift to the efforts of a specific fundraiser and this can cause conflict.
