grantmaking trust service

For charities looking to raise funds from trusts and working to tight budgets, FFA has developed a range of fixed-price services. For a set fee, FFA will carry out a comprehensive research and application round to 50, 100, 200 or even 300 trusts.

This service has two stages. A research phase during which time we analyse previous trust activity and gather together all of the information needed This includes the creation of a comprehensive trust database complete with trustee details; the preparation of project outlines with budgets; as well as identification and liaison with key supporters prepared to advocate on your behalf. In fact, everything that's needed to enabled us to prepare, on your behalf, a series of targeted and detailed bids to those grant-making trusts most likely to fund your work, but which have yet to do so.

This is followed by an application phase during which time we prepare letters and application forms for you to sign and send out. We also liaise with your advocates and encourage them to support bids where possible.

Replies, grants and requests for more information are all directed to the client. All grants are made directly to the charity.

This grantmaking trust service is truly comprehensive and does not adopt a one-size-fits-all approach. Each trust is approached using a carefully targeted and unique letter or a completed application form. We do not flood grantmaking trusts with carbon copies of an 'appeal' letter.

For more information about this service please contact Fiona Fountain or Ray Cain on 01892 544035 or complete the contact form and we will call you at a time that is convenient.

" Fiona Fountain's expertise and depth of knowledge of UK and overseas grant-making trusts accounted for two-thirds of the £3 million total raised by the Jubilee Appeal for Commonwealth Veterans. Fiona should be your first port of call if you are in the fundraising business." Brian Nicholson, Former Chief Executive, Royal Commonwealth Ex-Services League
tip

Trust fundraising is not about using a scatter-gun approach - it needs precision and the ability to build a lasting and rewarding partnership. Most grant-making trusts receive many more grant requests than they can possibly hope to support, so an application needs to stand out from the crowd. And it does this by being relevant, timely and clearly written. Approaches also benefit from a high degree of personalisation, so avoid circular appeals unless you really have no other option. It also pays to spend time identifying the funding criteria for each trust if available, and target your approach accordingly. It is time-consuming but worth it in the long run. Sending applications to trusts that do not fund your type of work is a waste of your time and theirs.
